A phenomenal story - starting from a local fixture manufacturer to building India's largest and smartest specialized toolings company with global footprint

The entrepreneur ‘bug’ in me was waiting to show up. After a year of doing jobs after my engineering, it bit me hard.

Coming from a modest background, I decided to start with what I had – a scooter and my grey cells. The year 2000 was a time when 2 Wheeler industry was booming in Aurangabad, and I decided focus on building fixtures for the fast-growing machined components. Soon enough we understood the huge potential in specialised toolings and started Sigma Toolings. Within a year we completely transformed ourselves from fixture manufacturer to offering customised toolings. And then never looked back.

By 2010, we were a team of 100+ with a strong and unique portfolio in tooling solutions and also well set to become one of India’s largest players. But the rapid growth created complexity, hampered our margins and led to fulfillment challenges on multiple fronts.

If we had to grow, we needed to get smarter. And in that effort, without even knowing the Smart Factory term, we had set ourselves on the journey to building one. Seven years later, much wiser from experience, slowly and successfully, we had created the Smart Factory. The transformation brought about by the Smart Factory initiatives in every individual at Sigma Toolings by far remains one of the most precious achievements for me, even today.

I am here for the cause of ‘smart manufacturing’, willing to share my experience and expertise with everyone and make ‘Smart Factory’ a powerful movement for Indian industries.
